The Food Pantry

Serving the Northwood High School district of Chatham County, the “Take and Eat” food pantry is an ecumenical missions project hosted by Evergreen. A volunteer food pantry committee works with the Director, Michelle Morehouse, to identify procedures and operations.

In addition to providing space, Evergreen volunteers provide donations of food and funds, and assist with shopping at the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, packaging and distributing food at established distribution times, and providing hospitality and prayer time at each food pantry distribution period for persons as they wait.

Evergreen packages and distributes food on the first and fourth Tuesday nights. Information about volunteering is available by contacting the church office: info@evergreen-umc.org . Food items can be brought to the church during any events or regular office hours. Checks may be made payable to Evergreen United Methodist Church, marked clearly “Food Pantry.” Distribution times and suggested food items needed follow.
