Youth Confirmed Sunday, May 16, 2010:   Five Evergreen youth were confirmed by the Rev. Donna Banks on Sunday, May 16, 2010.  In addition to their confirmation, the youth concluded weeks of study by

 ABIDE Team Completes Half Year of Study/Work  Sessions:  Evergreen’s ABIDE team has completed the first half of a year of concentrated study designed for development of  leaders  in conjunction with other small churches in the Burlington

District of the United Methodist Church.  With its name taken from “Abide in me…Bear Much fruit,” John 15:1-11, ABIDE is a movement for renewing the fruitfulness of smaller churches.  The team studies with others from the district and works together at least one day per month.  The Evergreen  team is beginning to work with the congregation in developing a ministry action plan for the church.  Nine Evergreen participants are involved, including those pictured here–Michelle Duncan, Herman Knieriem, John Moore, Mark Molitor, Jane Armstrong, Pastor Donna Banks, and Mary Kay Tripodi–plus Garnet Persinger and Phyllis Williams who were outside this picture.    

  

“Change the World” Food Drive Event, 4/17/2010:  Live music by Evergreen’s “Third Watch” band plus the  ”Psalm 33:3″ band entertained those who brought food and cash donations to support the “Take and Eat” Food Pantry.  Evergreen hosted and provided food for participants.  This “Change the World” event is one of hundreds across the country in April sponsored by United Methodists to support projects to change the world for residents, local and around the world.   Donations will increase the amount for matching for the Feinstein Foundation’s million dollar challenge.    Pastor Donna reported, “After Sunday’s addition, we collected 516 cans of food and almost $900 in donations for the Take and Eat Food Pantry.”
